Overcoming Multiple Sclerosis is a central part of life for many and this website focuses on supporting people with Multiple Sclerosis and encouraging them that they can live long and healthy lives, despite the disease. The site approach is based on the work and life of Professor Jelinek, who has previously been diagnosed with MS and now is symptom free.
The main priority of the site is to provide up to date evidence based information and research on MS, which is achieved through information pages, news articles and blog posts. Clear navigation and accessibility tools, such as high contrast and text size options, are crucial parts of the site design to ensure all users can find the information they require.
The community area brings people together and bridges nationalities, spreading the word of Professor Jelinek’s guide to recovery worldwide. Social networking tools are a central part of the community design, allowing blogs and podcasts to be shared with Twitter and Facebook, and encouraging site visitors to ‘follow’ updates on these social sharing platforms.
A member’s online area provides security to connect and discuss MS experiences with others via the forums. Members also have access to recipes planned to fit with a program of recovery, they can bookmark their favourite site pages for later reference, receive email newsletter updates to their inbox and check for the latest site updates on their members’ homepage. Single login for both the website and forum areas provide quick and easy access to all information.
This project involved a complete site re-build and a sizeable data migration process. We worked closely with the dedicated and passionate team behind the OMS site to ensure that the site remained focused on achieving its objectives.
