Pass It On!

08 April 10
Just before Christmas ’09 Gravitate were approached by KEA New Zealand about PassItOn – time has flown and now 4 months later and we are excited to be launching www.passiton.co.nz!

While the world is looking at NZ in 2011 for the rugby world cup PassItOn will arm people to continue that conversation – “Yes we have a fantastic rugby team (hopefully!) but look at the amazing things we are also doing in science, art, music, business….” Kiwi’s are renowned for being an innovative, hard-working, initiative-taking people and as a result there are New Zealanders all over the country doing fantastic things. The time is right to share them with the world and leverage the networks of our global friends to help NZ develop and grow.

For Gravitate this project has given us an opportunity to show-off just what we can do. We have used our experience with Facebook and Twitter to develop a “social curiosity” incentive for “passing” video content which allows users to navigate through a pass tree and connect with those people who the content has reached. We have developed systems to handle large amounts of video content which can be simultaneously uploaded to both the site and Youtube and which can splice extra frames onto user provided content to brand every video consistently. We have created a user interface which provides a seamless experience for users and drives the site objectives. We have incorporated blogging functionality and a live “leaders board” as interactive components and much more.

This project has been challenging, exciting and allowed us to spread our wings in terms of creative thinking to help PassItOn reach its potential. We are proud to have been involved in something so fiercely New Zealand and to celebrate and advance those people who truly represent that.
